The Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr, President Lee Kyung-Gyu) announced on the 10^th that national shipping companies Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC), and Namsung Shipping have commenced the operation of the new 'Korea-Hai Phong (KHP)' service.

The KHP service, which includes two 1,800 TEU vessels, will run on a weekly basis, connecting Incheon, Busan, Ulsan, Hai Phong in Vietnam, and Shekou in China, then concluding the voyage at Incheon, its port of call.

According to IPA, the inaugural voyage of the Korea Marine Transport Company’s "KMTC HAIPHONG," arrived at the Incheon New Port's Sun Kwang Container Terminal (SNCT) on the 9th of this month at 2 p.m.

This new route marks the fifth container route introduced at Incheon Port this year, increasing the total number of container services connecting Incheon and Hai Phong from 10 to 11 and setting a new record of a total of 71 regular container routes at Incheon Port – the highest in the port's history.

Last year, the cargo volume between Incheon and Hai Phong reached 205,000 TEUs. With the introduction of this new service, an annual increase of approximately 40,000 TEUs is anticipated.

Park Won-Geun, Director of Marketing at the Incheon Port Authority, stated, "This will provide greater stability in shipping services for Vietnamese importers and exporters using the Incheon Port," and added, "We will make every effort to implement incentive programs, joint marketing, and other measures to facilitate the promotion of the new service."
