Incheon Port Authority to Provide 870,000 ㎡ This Year to Begin Initiative for Port Logistics Development
○ The Incheon Port Authority (www.icpa.or.kr, President Lee Kyung-Gyu) announced on March 11th that it will supply a total of 870,000 ㎡ port sites this year to the Aam Logistics Complex 2 and the New Port Hinterland Complex in Incheon South Port, starting its initiative toward building a high-value-added port.

○ The second phase of Aam Logistics Complex 2 will be supplied in stages according to the size of the site and the types of businesses to be attracted, starting with the first recruitment announcement in the first half of this year. Currently, the superstructure is under construction, and a total of 590,000㎡ will be used to attract domestic and overseas logistics and manufacturing companies.
○ The plan* is to accommodate various demands by allocating 250,000 ㎡ (42.4%) of 11 small and medium-sized plots and 340,000 ㎡ (57.6%) of six large and medium-sized plots.
* The supply plan may be changed during the operational planning stage.
○ The Specialized E-commerce Zone of Aam Logistics Complex 2 has a total area of 256,000 ㎡ and is currently occupied by three companies and a smart joint logistics center.
○ ▴ It is located in the largest customs maritime express delivery center in the country, ▴ is connected to Incheon International Airport through sea and air*, and ▴ has logistics infrastructure such as regular car ferry services to China within 1 km of the port. This hinterland complex specializes in handling e-commerce cargo, where speed is the key, and the last remaining 111,000 ㎡ of land is currently being supplied** through a private proposal.

○ The total area of the Specialized Cold Chain Zone located in the Incheon New Port hinterland is 231,000 ㎡, of which the A-type (118,000 ㎡) liquefied natural gas (LNG) cold storage supply facility and ultra-low temperature cold chain logistics center are scheduled to sign a lease agreement and begin construction with the preferred bidder in the first half of this year. After that, IPA will recruit private sector developers for a total of six plots of land for the B-Type (113,000㎡).

○ In addition, the Phase 1-3 sites for Incheon New Port's container terminals, which were temporarily constructed to supply container terminals, are also scheduled to be supplied in the first half of this year, and it is expected that the tenant companies will be able to use it temporarily for the next 5 to 10 years.
○ The temporary use site at Incheon New Port will provide 58,000 ㎡ in support facilities, including vacant container yards, to create new traffic volume and added value at Incheon Port. The types of companies that will be invited to the site are currently being reviewed to ensure that they can be linked to the functions of New Port, including used cars and new cars, which are currently achieving the largest cargo traffic volume ever.
○ IPA is also operating a “Corporate Attraction Center” that invites excellent logistics companies to generate import and export volume at Incheon Port and assists their smooth operation.
○ IPA will assign personnel in charge of attracting companies to each hinterland complex, led by the head of the attraction center (head of the Logistics Business Team), to promote investment in the hinterland complexes and provide ▴ information on licensing and permits, ▴ eligibility and procedures for moving in, and ▴ infrastructure facilities to support small and medium-sized companies that wish to move in. They will also listen to tenants’ suggestions for improving the system, such as matters concerning tenancy restrictions.
○ Aspiring tenant companies can check the information on the available hinterland complex and the contact details of the person in charge through the “Corporate Attraction Center” banner on the Incheon Port Authority website and receive the most accurate investment information on the Incheon Port hinterland complex through phone or face-to-face consultations.
○ Vice President Kim Sang-ki of the Operation Division at Incheon Port Authority said, “Incheon Port set a record of 3.55 million TEUs of container traffic volume last year and has maintained a high growth rate of more than 5.6% on average per year over the past three years.” He added, “We will continue to secure and supply port sites that can support port functions to maintain the growth of our container traffic volume.”
